Mean of household income is calculated by adding up incomes for each household in the population and dividing the result by the number of households.

Description

The total, gross income received by the household from investments and other sources in latest prices (weekly, in CPI-adjusted real terms), as reported by FRS respondents, where:

A household consists of one person living alone or a group of people (not necessarily related) living at the same address, who share cooking facilities and share a living room or sitting room or dining area. A household will consist of one or more benefit units.
Interest and dividends are received on savings and investments. For details of investments covered by the FRS see Savings and investments.
Payments from all other sources include, for example, baby-sitting, allowances from absent spouses including child maintenance, organisations, royalties, odd jobs, sub-tenants, educational grants, alimony and Healthy Start Vouchers.
